Overcoming the Dragon
Providing a deeper understanding of what heroin is and how it impacts our health
Friday, July 22, 2016
I hope you are enjoying the different aspects of my new blog Overcoming the Dragon. If you are unaware as to why I chose this name, those that "Chase the Dragon" are drug addicts who are hooked on heroin and need it on a daily basis. I chose the word overcome to offer hope and transparency with relation to this important and dangerous issue.
The above diagram describes how certain gateway drugs increase the chances for those users to end up trying heroin. Your assignment for this post is to define what a gateway drug is. Is nicotine a gateway drug? Why or why not? Post your answers to these questions in the box below.
Good luck,
Mr. Morgan

Welcome!
Welcome students and parents to my blog Overcoming the Dragon!
This blog is meant to educate and provide awareness in relation to heroin and the current epidemic sweeping across our country. This subject is part of the Illegal Drugs Unit within the HPE10 curriculum. There will be discussion assignments attached to each heading below the picture at the tope of the page in which you must complete throughout the unit.
We have a great opportunity to learn together and hopefully use this information to change lives. I look forward to your responses throughout the semester as they will provide a foundation for further discussion in class.
I love this quote especially when we discuss drugs and the impact they can have on not only yourself, but your family and friends.
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not"
-Dr. Suess
Take care, Mr. Morgan
